Essential Job Duties

This temporary position will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary hospital through routine stall/cage maintenance, hospital cleaning and disinfection, and waste removal. Restrain and provide basic husbandry for equine and farm animal patients. Small animal hospital backup, same duties.

Minimum Experience/Education

High School diploma or equivalent. Extensive experience with handling/restraint of equine (including mares with foals, regnant mares, stallions, etc.) and farm animals, animal husbandry, cleaning and disinfection, basic facility maintenance skills.

Department Required Skills

Must be able to lift up to 70lbs

Operate equipment (forklift, pressure washer, basic power tools,etc), manage inventory, accurately measure chemicals for dilution, practice safe and humane handling of all patients.

Ability to communicate effectively, work on a team effectively, and work in compliance with all policies and procedures, including safety.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Experience restraining and providing husbandry care for the equine species.Preferred experience in working in a veterinary setting, working knowledge of compliance with an infectious disease control program, working knowledge of established safety program including compliance with OSHA and veterinary certifications such as AAHA, AVMA, etc.
